大學放榜之後，許多學生準備迎接大學新鮮人的生活，但是中山女高卻有一位家境清寒的女學生，沒有錢唸書，去年她考上文化大學，因為付不起學費，今年重考，考上南華大學，還是沒錢付，媽媽甚至必須把她的參考書賣掉，才有錢買飯吃，想到這一切，這名女學生激動痛哭。
牆壁上貼滿了獎狀，前年從中山女高畢業的陳詩婷說，她真的很想念大學。
中山女高畢業生陳詩婷：「我那時候就很想唸大學，念研究所，我想未來還要出國留學(新聞、網站)，後來就很想唸大學，可以順利畢業，然後就能找到一個比較好的工作，這樣我才能改善家計。」
一想到沒有錢讀書，陳詩婷忍不住哭了，因為媽媽生病，妹妹讀高中，家裡完全沒有收入，連三餐都吃不飽，甚至必須向同學伸手借錢。
中山女高畢業生陳詩婷：「很不想要跟同學借錢，因為跟同學借，她也是透過他爸爸媽媽借給我，這樣就很尷尬，就不知道該怎麼開口。」
去年陳詩婷考上文化大學，沒錢付好幾萬的學費，只好忍痛放棄求學的機會，靠著一年的自修捲土重來，卻因為積欠100多萬房租，考前被房東逼著搬家，今年只考到南華大學文學系，現在5萬元的學雜費完全沒有著落，陳詩婷紅了眼框，因為明天的下一餐，還不知道在哪裡！
陳詩婷母親：「課本，跟一些紙啊。」記者：「要幹嘛的？」陳詩婷母親：「要賣的，賣當生活費。」
媽媽必須賣掉高中的參考書，才能賺取生活費，也賣掉了她讀書的希望。"

奇怪了，都十八歲了，去賺點錢先養家，
把媽媽的病養好，把家裏先安頓好，
然後再考、再唸書呀！
過了十八歲就應該盡量靠自己了，
怎麼好像連唸大學都是別人應該要幫你做到的事情一樣！
想唸就要靠自己呀！
國民義務教育可是只有到國中.... 不是到大學畢業、研究所畢業......
